irc.gnu.org".

Hello.

You have exposed reasons regarding why #savannah should be back in
Freenode. However, it would be a fallacy if we take a decision based
solely on the Freenode merits without considering it's negative
implications or the OFTC benefits.

Switching to OFTC in the first place wasn't arbitrarial; we switched
because of Freenode hostility towards Tor, an essential tool for the
user concerned with his privacy. Has this issue changed?. If not, I
think this is much more important than these "annoyances" regarding
channel spread across multiple networks.

For instance, in my case my IRC client shows me the channels I'm
connected to, transparently, regardless of which server host them. The
annoyance you're talking about just don't applies to me, so please don't
make a false generalization.

It would be wrong to consider the comfort of users who join irc.gnu.org
and expect #savannah there (Also bear in mind there is a notice
regarding its actual location) and ignore those Tor users who are unable
to connect to irc.gnu.org. Using Tor isn't a whim or a issue regarding
comfort. For some people it's the only way to access, that's a more
lengthy topic. Currently anyone can access to #savannah with a minor
annoyance at most. If we move #savannah to GNU there would be people
who couldn't access to #savannah at all.

Furthermore, in my opinion It's a mistrake to choose one IRC network
based on the fact other GNU channels are there. The IRC network should
be chosen according to its own merits, then, if that isn't the same
network as irc.gnu.org we could suggest a change.

My position is than #savannah should be kept on OFTC.

Regards.
