Linux distributions such as Red Hat Slackware Debian etc. include apart from a
Linux OS kernel all sorts of app's, utils, all you ever dreamed of (?):

also X-windows, gcc compiler (which includes Objective-C), the lot I would say.

And all for free, ftp-able from the internet

By the way, I'm running a 32 Mb Linux box (at home) and I strongly suggest to
add the other 16 Mb.
