2022-05-30; previews not using face color with xetex engine

Hi, in trying this

\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}

test $\alpha + \beta$.  %% preview should appear here.

\end{document}

% Local Variables:
% TeX-engine: xetex
% End:
----

and on generating previews the color for the preview
is black which shows badly on a dark theme

With the default TeX engine, the color of the preview
obeys it seems the main face color

as shown in attached screenshots
