Client/customer != user.
Marketing is about, well, marketing: selling. Marketing is interested in
customers, including helping them.
Customers are not the same as users, even when they might be the same people.
An athlete is not the same thing as an astronaut, even when the same person
might be both.
A user point of view is about the use of something. A marketing point of view
is about the sale of something (a commodity), or keeping existing customers
(selling again).
There's overlap, and some users also buy some of the products they use. But
use value and exchange value are not the same thing, and customer and user are
not the same thing.
