I did this, and it asked me for a password; I tried giving it my
`normal' password (which works with CVS pserver on subversions), but
that didn't work.
Note that I don't use ssh to access CVS from home either, I just use
pserver. So I've never logged into subversions using ssh, only
fencepost.
