Benoit,

Thank you for the explanations to Q1&3.

About Q2:
actually I made a mistake. My system is Redhat 8.0 and it runs:
gcc version 3.2 20020903 (Red Hat Linux 8.0 3.2-7)
So I still don't know why certi-start crashes. It looks like a network problem, Here is the error message:

   address@hidden federations]$ export CERTI_HOST=localhost
   address@hidden federations]$ certi-start
   CERTI RTIG 3.1 - Copyright 2002, 2003, 2004 ONERA
This is free software ; see the source for copying conditions. There is NO warranty ; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

SocketUDP: Bind: Cannot assign requested address
   RTIG: exception: NetworkError -- Exiting.

Any hint about what could be wrong? What should I try to do?

Thierry

QUESTION 2: Any idea what is wrong with my RedHat 7.3 box? What should
I change in the configuration of my machine or in the initialization
script of certi?

It's not a compilation problem but I would test it with GCC 3.* (I
think RH 7.3 used "GCC 2.96").
