Thanks but this does not work for me. I have even tried using the edit menu, type "bt", highlight the text, edit->copy, switch to the other app, paste. The copy action within ddd doesn't affect the clipboard for some reason.  I noticed that I can copy and paste with in ddd it self, but that doesn't help me get info out of ddd.

Hi excuse me if this is a stupid question. I can't seem to figure out
how to copy a backtrace from ddd to the clipboard. I have to do this
often when reporting bugs or asking advise from other developers. Am I
missing something obvious?

Type "bt". Mark the text with the mouse pointer. Paste it into your app.

There's no need to Ctrl-C to "copy"; whenever text is selected, it's copied.
This is standard for the Motif (Xm) and Athena (Xaw)  widget-sets.
This definitely does work.  I suspect that you have some app which
is grabbing the selection.  I use DDD in gnome, KDE, and CDE.
None of these environments has problems copying text and pasting
it into vim running in an xterm.  I do it all the time.

Andrew

I am using KDE, typically I want to paste into an email client, however I just gave a copy-paste from ddd into vi a try and it didn't work. So, this is clearly either a ddd bug or some other issue, its not me being stupid and not doing it right. Thanks for the clarification.
