Well, Bergamo is approx. 100km less distant from Munich than Geneva,  
so it is even easier to reach by car.

And as another option (although difficult to reach without car) I  
would propose some nice spot in Südtirol/Alto Adige (many years ago I  
was at Reinswald, Sarentino for a Conference Meeting - but I don't  
know how it looks there nowadays). And September could be the Highest  
Season there.
