When you boot from the Debian installation CD, instead of pressing 'Enter'
write:

   install pci=nomsi

After writing that, press 'Enter'.

And, instead of using GRUB for the hard disk master-boot-record (MBR), use
LILO. To do it, when you get at the "install GRUB" state, click "back" and
select LILO instead.

That is needed due to the Debian 'etch' GRUB seems to have problems with some
BIOS and how the BIOS offers the hard disk interface to the computer.
