Subject: | [h-e-w] EmacsW32 - EmacsClient ERROR |

I’m using GNU Emacs 22.0.91.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600)
of 2006-12-05 on W2ONE (patched) I’m new to EmacsW32 with prior limited knowledge of GNU
Emacs 21.3. I downloaded the latest patched EmacsW32 (5 Dec 06) and
installed it. I then tried to run the Emacs link that is created by the
installer and I get the following error message: “EmacsCleint ERROR: The requested Emacs remote server
is not running” I am not familiar with the Emacs Client / Server interface,
but was also not asked to configure anything specific during the
installation. I have managed to get Emacs to work using the “addpm.exe”
binary that is found in the Bin folder. However, I would like to know how
to get the Client/Server to work as I can see the benefit. The EmacsW32
web page says: Emacsclient is patched so that it can start Emacs and emacs server
automatically when needed. (This behaviour was before offered by gnuclient. If
you are using the unpatched version you can use version 1.08 of EmacW32 to get
this functionality back.) (Added 2006-11-21) …but it seems that with a standard installation the
emacsclient does not manage to start the server. Where can I find more
information on what could be causing this problem on my machine? None of
the get started pages address this issue. Regards, Victor Hellberg |
