A recent pull request has made LilyDev ready to crossbuild, as
required by GUB.
Why would LilyDev need to be ready to crossbuild? I thought that its
bootstrap involved building a crossbuilding environment itself?
The commit is this one:
https://github.com/fedelibre/LilyDevOS/commit/67f7d3cfa080aa8cc10fdacb488b1aaf65c97a85
It simply installs the package libc6:i386
The list of dependencies for GUB (notes taken a month ago or so) is
(for Debian-based distros):
sudo apt-get install build-essential ca-certificates gcc-multilib
gettext git python texlive-binaries texlive-metapost texlive-xetex
For Fedora I found these:
sudo dnf install make automake patch xz unzip findutils gcc gcc-c++
glibc-devel.x86_64 glibc-devel.i686 ca-certificates gettext git python
but I can't remember why I listed texlive in Debian and not in Fedora...
This does not mean that GUB runs successfully but it's a first
step. The person who submitted the PR and me are having the same GUB
problem.
Hopefully today I'll be able to make a new LilyDev release: there
will
be a Debian-based container which can be run on Linux host and a
Ubuntu-based Docker image which can be run on any host.
Is that also what is currently blocking Phil from creating the next
release?
No, he's using Ubuntu and he was blocked by a different problem.
