Oh, you are right. Sorry for the confusion. The bug is not triggered
by "--disable-nls", it is triggered when Gettext is not installed.
I tried to clarify that in the glib bugreport:

The whole point of my patch was to get along _without_ a native Gettext.

If that really fails on FreeBSD/OSX, please send to logs to me, maybe
another correction for glib is needed.
