My dictionary reads "jäälautta: [ice] floe", so how about adding the "ice" before the "floe"? When I first saw the word in an earlier version of Pingus, I actually thought it was a typo, too.

According to some dictionaries I've got access to the ice is already
part of the meaning of floe. Perhaps someone with english as native
tongue could shed more light on the matter?

Wherein the definition of floe is given as "an ice floe". I thought there were rules against defining a word with itself. ;-)

Just "floe" is fine from my perspective, but "ice floe" isn't offensive either. (I'm a native english speaker.)
