Offhand I recall that the header and library files are installed in different
directories.  For political reasons, LessTif's less likely to be broken by
random Xorg hacking (which has broken various layout issues in Xt over the past
year or so).

That would be a good quick check.  This evening I can check (but don't
have a recent Slackware. I can recall running xvile recently in Debian.
I have OpenMotif on the older Debian, and iirc on Fedora5.
