Except when it comes to GNUstep because Apples position on that is (as I
understand it) that we are free to implement the OpenStep spec, but if we start
putting in all the OSX extensions then they are going to start getting upset.

Indeed. Its much better to go the other way. I tend to write under
OpenStep 4.2 (because of Interface Builder), port to OpenStep and then
to OS X or Windows/Yellowbox if needed. OS4.2 is still going to be my
reference platform for a llong time to come I suspect.
