I have the following settings in my .emacs:

(put 'left-margin 'safe-local-variable t)
(put 'byte-compile-dynamic 'safe-local-variable t)
(put 'byte-compile-warnings 'safe-local-variable t)

I think they should generally be safe for all values and marked as such.
