FreeType is related to fonts only which is just a small aspect of the
whole X rendering engine.  We try to design FT as independenly as
possible from any particular rendering model to allow integration into
other rendering paradigms.  Hence the many callbacks.

If necessary, we can implement special wishes of the X rendering team
to improve and ease implementation.
