I have a difficult time seeing how a dozen emails can take up 6 hours.
I am also completely buried in email, I know how you feel, sortof...

Believe me, if I didn't ignore email sometimes I wouldn't get and
"real" work done. But in globally distributed project like Gnash,
communication between developers is always good, and a necessary part of
what we need to do to make a successful project.

It's in his "job description"... The majority of the time I agree with
his comments, so I have a hard time seeing this as a problem. Other than
myself, strk has worked on gnash longer, and with more focus than anyone
else on this project. His insights are valuable, and I've never noticed
his comments to be anything but focused on the technical issues. He
comments on my checkins too! :-)
