Follow-up Comment #3, bug #62847 (project octave):

Maybe related: in Octave's path, after adding a network drive cf. my method 3
of comment #0, the path entry looks like

'\\PS315.company.local\rest$\of\full\path'

Note the '$' character after 'rest': that means that that subdir is hidden for
normal browsing actions.
