Follow-up Comment #15, bug #62847 (project octave):

The default branch has other changes with respect to the stable branch that
could be relevant here.
Does a build from the default branch without that changeset backed out work?
Did the release candidate 7.1.90 still work?

There are two things I currently don't understand: Why does the name of the
share (`Total`) disappear in the output of `which`? Where does the `$` sign in
that output come from?
