Good news, It looks like the bug reported in this thread is fixed in an upcoming VLC release. I compiled the latest VLC snapshot[1] and it works here. It also seems like that old bug with get_time returning zero is fixed! Footnotes: [1] http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/
