Extremely cool - without looking into this thread, my reaction is to
make the current open page in the menu on the left a little more
prominent though, and perhaps drop the underlining.

That's not impossible, but you have to make sure you have proper
fallback if that page is not available in the language you want.

I think it's LP's magic. John is more familiar with the code though.
