Hmmm.  Upgrading doesn't seem to help unfortunately :(

I tried with xemacs (21.1.4) too, but with essentially the same result (I
get some warnings during the byte-compile).  I'll see if I can figure out
some elisp and be a bit more help, but that may take a while.
