Finally ...

It looks like it is still sitting in the main loop at that point. I
assume this is after you tried quitting by pressing ESC.
I now remember that I made a change to the flag that tells the main
loop to quit. I have to look at that more closely, but I guess
something is wrong with that. Would explain why it does not stop at
all. OTOH, I haven't noticed the same. Will have a closer look on the
weekend.
