So everybody's talking about how {arch} is good or bad -- but why?

I thought it was agreed that the patches to move all the =tagging-method
functionality into .arch-inventory was going to be merged, and then the
{arch} directory is off-limits to users. So it becomes an opaque
database no-one should care about.
[We do need functionality to blow away pristine trees though]

And at that point using {arch} becomes a good thing, because it will
never clash with anything in a tree (since most people would never use
braces in a filename).

Likewise with '=filenames', you don't need to use them. =build is
considered precious by default [1], and so is =install, but you can just
as well change the regexps and use something different.
