She was assuming that you were local to the machine that lynx is running on.
Any common terminal emulator should do, so long as your $TERM matches the
terminal settings on your emulator (try SCO-ANSI or ANSI-BBS), and the
background color in lynx.cfg matches the background color in your terminal
emulator (modem s/w)
