i compiled swarm version 2.1.1 on debian linux kernel 2.4.17 using 
gcc 2.95.4.

i did and i did say that in my prev post. in that, he 
mentions that debian adds nonstandard threading code to gcc and this 
might prevent tcl from initializing correctly. is that true?
