I know there's a high risk of starting a very long thread but anyway,
here's my point of view:

Once you realease your free code, it is and will *always* be free, no
matter if it's MIT, BSD or (L)GPL. No one can make it unfree. Of course,
someone may come and make modifications to it, and release everything as
a closed-source product, but in reality only the modifications are
closed source at all (which in my opinion is perfectly fine, since one
should do whatever he wants with his own code). Your original
open-source version would still be there for anyone who wants it.

So, IMO, you don't loose anything at all.
