Folks, I've put up a snapshot of the current Swarm source that is
known to work on LinuxPPC 1999:

  ftp://ftp.santafe.edu/pub/swarm/testing/swarm-1999-09-25.tar.gz

It is tested with the native and green thread configurations of the JDK 1.2
acquired here:

  http://khendricks.ivey.uwo.ca/linuxppc/jdk/index.html

Note that it is necessary to build using libffi, bypassing the built-in
avcall library in Swarm. So first get and install:

ftp://ftp.santafe.edu/pub/swarm/needed-software/libffi-1.20.tar.gz

Then you can do that with a configure command like this:

./configure --with-jdkdir=$HOME/jdk121_pre-v1 --with-ffidir=/usr/local

Replace "$HOME/jdk121_pre-v1" with where you unpack JDK 1.2, or instead use
"--without-jdkdir", if you don't want Java support.

Thanks to Alex Lancaster for doing all the Linux setup work and to
Tim Carlson (SFI sysadmin extraordinare) for scrounging up an old PPC box
for us!
