Hi,

If you want to compile for 2.5 or 2.6 without replacing alsa in your
kernel you can copy the attached makefile to alsa-kernel/pci/au8810 and
simply type make while beeing in this directory. This makefile is for
8810 so you need to make trivial changes to use 8820 or 8830. When
compilation is done copy snd-au88x0.ko to
/lib/modules/<kernel-version>/kernel/sound/pci and run depmod.

You must also configure the kernel to compile some driver that uses ac97
in order get that module compiled as snd-au88x0 depends on it (I use
intel8x0).

Manuel or Jeff:

alsa-kernel/pci/au88x0/snd-au88[123]0.mod.c

are in CVS. I guess they should not be there?

Cheers,

Pontus Fuchs
