Maybe compositing is enabled and is getting in the way somehow. There's a page describing it here, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Composite Enabled by default. You could try disabling it and see what happens. We're all a bit stuck for suggestions, I guess it's just a case of trying things and fishing around for some handle on the problem. -- Paul Nicholson --
