If the problem is what I think it is, it's fixed in the current GDB
sources.¹

It turns out this is actually a bug in GCC, and that the linker
warnings are reasonable.  On x86 glibc systems, the underlying problem
is benign; you just get the annoying messages.  On HPUX 9 (and 10
IIRC), the linker will crash and burn when creating shared libraries of Swarm.

¹ Instructions on getting up-to-the-minute GDB sources from
Cygnus's sourceware CVS repository are at http://sourceware.cygnus.com/gdb/.
The Swarm phase tags were creating delimiters [methods] that looked
kinda like C++ symbol mangling, and a demangling routine assumed too much.
